Effects of Moringa oleifera leaf meal (MOLM) based diets on carcass composition and hematology of Labeo rohita fingerlings – JBES

Labeo rohita,By: Syed Makhdoom Hussain

A 70 – day feeding trial was carried out to study the effect of replacing the dietary fish meal with Moringa oleifera leaves meal (MOLM) on the carcass composition and hematological indices of Labeo rohita fingerlings. Five iso-nitrogenous diets were formulated with MOLM replacing 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% of fish meal in the diets. Fish were fed at 5% of their body weight two times daily. Continue reading

Impact of farmers’ field schools on environment protection in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan -IJAAR

Impact of Farmers_ field schools,By: Gulfam Hassan

Farmers’ Field School (FFS) is an innovative extension approach, which is expected to play a critical role of non formal education in educating farming community regarding protection of environment thereby leading to healthier life of people. Keeping the importance of this very aspect in mind, a study was therefore, carried out to determine the impact of FFS on environment protection. For this purpose, six districts from the central region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Kohat were selected. Continue reading

Role of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera (Insecta) functional feeding groups in leaf decomposition in Tropical River – JBES

TrichopteraBy: Suhaila Ab. Hamid

The riparian vegetation along the riverbanks had an influence on Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera (EPT) functional feeding groups’ composition (FFG). This is because FFG from these three orders play a major role in leaf decomposition. A study of EPT FFG on leaf breakdown was carried out on two types of leaf packs, single leaf species (Pometia pinnata) and two leaf species (Pometia pinnata and Dolichandrone spathacea) in Tupah River, Kedah, Malaysia. On-farm evaluation of the yield and nutrient content of high-altitude-profit-oriented leafy vegetable fields in Central Japan – IJAAR

Different types of green vegetables in a stainless colanderBy: Asafor Henry Chotangui

High altitude leafy vegetable cultivation in profit-oriented fields in Japan are abundantly fertilized and characterized by plastic mulching. Our goal was to evaluate the close link between soil nutrient amendment, yield and nutrient uptake of three leafy vegetable production systems of small and middle scale producers characterized by an array of farm management practices. A participatory methodology using questionnaires together with on-farm and homestead discussions and observations were employed to obtained information about the farm management practices. Magnetic field interpretation using singular value decomposition method based on correlation coefficient of eigenimages – JBES

Bar Magnet showing magnetic field w iron filings. studio.By: Ata Eshaghzadeh

Magnetic investigations can yield important information about geological structures. Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) is a very powerful tool for analysis of the geophysical data set chiefly potential fields. In this paper, a new technique for demonstration of near-subsurface features with short wavelength using magnetic eigenvectors and eigenimage is proposed which separate the residual anomalies from magnetic map background (total magnetic field).
